The Ivy Funds ranked among the fastest growing mutual fund families in 2006, according to a recent study released by Financial Research Corporation (FRC). The Ivy Funds, with a 68 percent increase in assets under management in 2006, ranked fourth in terms of asset growth over the year among all firms with assets of $5 billion or greater. S&P 500’s Remarkable Streak

Everyone with some financial sense knows that the markets (S&P 500 specifically) have been continually hitting new highs or at least new multi-year highs respectively. The strange thing is that we have not seen many corrections in that period. In fact, the S&P 500 is on quite an impressive streak right now (see below). Typically, when the market makes a move higher, it tends to make several corrections on its way up, but that has not been the case this past year.

The financial services regulator in the Netherlands has agreed to allow brokers there to connect directly to the Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX) and trade securities, in a decision that strengthens the international links of the exchange.

The decision by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), in conjunction with the Netherlands Finance Ministry, creates a new route for brokers to join the DIFX as a Member. Previously Members needed to be located either inside the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), or in certain other European locations.

The Dow Theory

You will hear a lot about the Dow Theory as you travel through your trading career. Dow himself never actually used the phrase. That came later as analysts began to use the term.

I should back up here slightly and mention that in 1884 Dow published his first stock market average of 11 stocks. From the original 11 stocks there were some changes and rearrangements of the average until finally in 1928 he settled on 30 stocks which are now know as the industrial average and that is where we get the term the 'Dow Jones Industrial Average'.
