SRI ConferenceImmediately on Heels of Voting, Leading Economist to Unveil Economic Forecast in Live Phone Feed From The SRI Conference in Denver, Colorado.

DENVER (NEWS ADVISORY) — The recovery following the end of the Great Recession has lasted over seven years. Is it nearing the end? What is the status of recovery? Is a recession a possibility for the new President? What structural problems warrant addressing first in the new administration? These questions and others facing the new occupant of the White House will be addressed tomorrow when Mel Miller, chief economist, First Affirmative Financial Network and formerly CIO of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. for 28 years, will deliver his post-election economic forecast during the first full day of The SRI Conference, the largest and longest running national meeting of practitioners focused on responsible investing.

Members of the news media are invited to listen to a live phone feed at 4:50pm EST / 2:50pm MST on Wednesday of “Economic Forecast: What Awaits Our New President?,” one of the core presentations being made to the more than 600 industry leaders at The SRI Conference.

Other election-related themes on The SRI Conference agenda include:

* “Navigating the New Political, Economic and Market Environment” (November 9). In this keynote, Zachary Karabell, PhD, head of global strategy at Envestnet and president of River Twice Research, will assess the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, its possible consequences for markets and economic policy, and what that may mean for sustainable, responsible, impact investors. Karabell will discuss what we can expect, and also what areas of our system are unlikely to change regardless of who occupies the Oval Office and controls Congress.

* “The Post-Election Policy Environment: Challenges and Opportunities for Responsible Investors” (November 10). This plenary panel will feature: Bennett Freeman, previously senior vice president, sustainability research and policy at Calvert Investments and currently board secretary of the Global Network Initiative; Joe Keefe, president and CEO of Pax World Management; and Lisa Woll, CEO of US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investing and the US SIF Foundation. The panel discussion will be moderated by Patsy Doerr, Global Head of Corporate Responsibility and Inclusion, Thomson Reuters. These industry leaders also have deep experience in the public policy arena. They will address post-election challenges and opportunities related to climate change and environmental sustainability; labor and human rights; financial regulation and economic innovation; shareholder rights and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). What are the possibilities, and what should be the
priorities, for responsible investors given the new Administration and the new make-up of Congress?

* “In for the Long Haul: Investment for a New Strategic Era” (November 10). If an overarching long-term strategy for the future of the United States is not likely to be forthcoming from inside the Beltway, it has to come from investors—and the implications for modern portfolio theory are extraordinary. Retired Marine Colonel, Mark “Puck” Mykleby will join his co-authors Joel Makower and Patrick Doherty for a presentation based on their new book, “The New Grand Strategy: Restoring America’s Prosperity, Security and Sustainability in the 21st Century.” Could a new national framework tap into a trillion-dollar market demand for walkable communities, regenerative agriculture, and resource productivity? What would that mean for financial professionals and investors? Mykleby and Doherty are co-founders and co-director of the Strategic Innovation Lab at Case Western Reserve University. Makower is chairman and executive editor of GreenBiz Group, Inc., a media and events company focusing on
sustainable business and clean technology and the author of over a dozen books advocating for a more sustainable approach to business.

* “Clean Energy: Policy and Opportunities in the New America” (November 11). In the 21st century, our wealth of energy resources must be adapted to tackle the challenges of sustainability. Few Americans bring the breadth of experience that former Colorado Governor, Bill Ritter and Doug Arent, Executive Director of the Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis at NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory). Governor Ritter is now the director of the Center for the New Energy Economy, Colorado State University. Ken Locklin, a director of Impax Asset Management (US) LLC will serve as moderator.
